  1. Surely from the beak and markings it’s a vireo. After looking at the possible alternatives, I think I agree that it’s the West Coast version of the Bell’s vireo. Thanks so much for your help.
  2. Immature Osprey caught up close at the San Joaquin Marsh Ecological Reserve in Irvine, CA
  3. The attached photo was taken at the San Joaquin Marsh and Ecological Reserve in Irvine, CA at around 11:00 AM on Sunday, August 5, 2018. The bird is probably goldfinch size, maybe a bit larger, and was seen in hillside brush near willows and approximately 40-50 feet from a stream. The bill is thick, maybe tanager-like. Any help would be appreciated.
