Thanks All. There was more red in these than in most Song Sparrows we see around here. I guess I just got the light right. Happy New Year!

What Maryland Hawks Please?
gladner replied to gladner's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Thanks all. We see Red Shouldered all the time in this park. But none of them looked like this first bird, so I would have thought it was a different hawk. Always glad to be educated. -

Frederick Maryland. Monacacy River. Mid September. I though this under-tail would make it easy for me to ID this bird, but no such luck. Any help greatly appreciated.

Are these 'just' Goldfinch?
gladner replied to gladner's topic in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Thanks very much! -
Are all of these just American Goldfinch? The last few times I thought I had captured a different bird, because they looked different from the Goldfinch I get in my yard, I learned they were all Goldfinch. What about these? They are all different birds. My ID skills are awful. Thanks so much.

Thanks akandula. For some reason this bird just looked different than the 8 goldfinch that visit my yard every day. Wishful thinking! -
