  3. A rock jetty into the Pacific Ocean protects a harbor at Ocean Shores, WA. It attracts 3 "rock-piper" species, Black Turnstones 60%, Surfbirds 30% and Rock Sandpipers 10%.   13. Taken in June at Tacoma, WA, where we have common black-capped and chestnut-backed. My picture is at: https://pbase.com/image/168822835 There are 7 chickadees in the US, but Sibley says they all have black throat patches. I did find one picture of one with a brown throat patch.   17. Thanks guys, The common and caspian are seen along Puget Sound north of Seattle in August and September. Went there 2 weeks ago and saw 4 caspians which are easy to id from common. I'll go back to Edmonds waterfront in mid-September. Thanks, Al in Tacoma
  18. The Common would be a lifer after many Forster's, especially at Bolsa Chica, Huntington Beach, CA.
