  1. Took this picture in Marco Island, Florida in January 2018. I hope some of you identifying experts can help. Thanks.
  2. I saw several birds on our Route 66 vacation that I am unable to identify. Any help would be appreciated. The first two pics were taken in Clinton, Oklahoma on July 28, 2019. The last two pics were taken in Santa Rosa, New Mexico on July 29, 2019. Thanks!
  3. Thank you so much for the proper identification. Thanks also for the tips to help identify!
  4. I have the hardest time identifying herons. I think the heron standing on the boardwalk is a tri-colored heron, and the heron all bunched up is a Great Blue Heron. Please confirm or correct for me : ) All of these birds were seen in southwest Florida (Marco Island or Corkscrew Sanctuary in Naples, FL) in January of this year. I'd appreciate any help to properly identify these birds. Thanks!
  5. Thanks so much! I can certainly see that he fits the pictures of the Northern Harrier in my bird book perfectly !
  6. I heard that a snowy owl had been spotted in north central Illinois, so took a drive looking for it. Amazingly, we are pretty sure that we found it flying along side the road. These pictures are not very good as the bird was flying and the car was moving. I am hoping that they are good enough for someone to verify that it is a snowy owl.
  7. Thanks for the info! Sorry I forgot to say where I was. It is southwest Florida along the gulf.
  8. I've been birding and as usual I need help from you expert IDer's out there! I have 3 pictures - 1 is a little duck, another is a wading bird, and the 3rd I believe might be a cowbird. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
  9. Here are 3 more birds that I saw at Corkscrew Sanctuary in Naples, FL in January, 2018. Using my somewhat poor identification skills, I think the first pic is a Great Crested Flycatcher. Can anyone confirm that or properly identify? The next pic is not very good, I know, but the little guy would NOT sit still. Some kind of warbler, I'm thinking. The 3rd pic, hmmmm….. maybe some sort of Vireo? Please help me!!
  10. Thanks so much - now I can label my pics! I'll be posting a few more …...
  11. I saw and took pictures of several birds in Southwest Florida in January of 2018. I'm wondering if anyone could help identify them for me. The two that I am posting right now were seen in wooded wildlife areas. The woodpecker clearly has some yellow near his neck. I can't find either of these birds in my birding book! Any help would be appreciated : )
  12. Thanks very much! Your answers make sense as we have a lot of Red-headed woodpeckers in this area. He's such a cute little fella..🙂
