I saw this hawk this morning just outside of Chapel Hill, NC. It was perched on top of a dead tree where I usually see Red-headed Woodpeckers. The resident Red-head was very unhappy with the hawk being there. Although the hawk wasn't in very good light I took some photos, the images are OK, I had to lighten them quite a bit. I thought when I saw the hawk it was one of the Red-shouldered Hawks I often see in this area, but looking at the images, I'm not sure. It looks better for a Broad-winged Hawk, but that's a species I only see occasionally in my area, so I'm not real familiar with them. Any thoughts?
