  1. Thanks! I saw two hawks this morning, the most common in my hood are the Red-Shouldered and the Cooper's. I saw the Cooper's first and was pretty sure it was a Cooper's, then I saw the Red-shouldered, and between the two sightings both seemed pretty obvious. But I have been off on my hawk ID's before, so thanks again.
  2. Pretty sure this is a Cooper's hawk, but a 2nd opinion would be welcomed.

  5. Seen this morning in Chapel Hill, NC. I'm thinking this is probably a Chipping Sparrow, but I've been going back and forth on the ID. The bird seemed larger than the average Chipping Sparrows I've been seeing. Any thoughts? Thanks!
  6. Yesterday was a pretty good birding day for this time of year. I don't often see many migrating warbler's in my neighborhood, but I came across a mixed flock yesterday and was able to get some photos as well. https://ebird.org/checklist/S75034243

  8. I posted a decent photo of a Rose-breasted Grosbeak last week. I see those birds in the spring and fall, although mostly in the fall. It's been one of those birds that I've had trouble getting any kind of decent photo of, so I was happy to get the shot I posted. Then a few days later I saw this male low in a tree. Initially it was partially obscured in the branches, but I was able to slowly move where I found a clear window. The bird was very cooperative and allowed me to take about a dozen photos of him. Obviously a big improvement over my first post, I was super pleased to get these shots. Rose-breasted Grosbeak by Mark Goodwin, on Flickr Rose-breasted Grosbeak by Mark Goodwin, on Flickr
