  1. I wasn't sure what this bird was when I first saw it, but I managed to get a decent photo of it. Merlin told me it was a Lazuli Bunting, which was a surprise. The next day I saw a pair of Lazuli Buntings including a male, no mistake about IDing that bird, but I was unable to get a photo.
  2. Snow Goose. It seems funny that I had to go all the way to Baja, Mexico to see a Snow Goose for the first time.

  4. I had a really good year as far as photos go. If I thought too much about which photo was my best or favorite, I'd probably never come up with just one photo. But the first photo that popped into my head was this one. I see Red-headed Woodpeckers fairly often in my neighborhood, but most of the time they are high in the trees. I was really happy to catch this bird a little above eye level and managed to get a good shot of it.
  5. Heermann's Gull. Just back from a trip to Baja Sur, Mexico and spent time in La Paz. Gull's are generally difficult for me to identify, but this one was pretty easy to ID.
  6. I don't think about labeling the photos because if you click on it it will open the photo on my Flickr page which names the bird and lists where the photo was taken.
  7. Snowcap. I had hoped to see this bird while at Rancho Naturalista in Costa Rica and was pleased to see both a male and a female. Unfortunately, there was a very aggressive Rufous-tailed Hummingbird that would promptly chase the Snowcaps whenever they tried to feed. So, the photo opportunities were limited.
