  1. Ruby-Crowned Kinglet due to tiny beak, white wingbar, and yellow primary edges. EDIT: Sniped!
  2. Have you looked at the immature herons? Night Heron came to mind.
  3. I'm still seeing Purple Finch for 1 and 2. The rump is always the lightest part of the finch and the back looks too purple for the other rose finches. Someone else might have a different experience and some different information though.
  4. Those are most certainly not redpolls. They never show that much red, and the back of the head is always lighter than the back. This bird is too dark overall.
  5. We actually get wintering Dunlins here pretty commonly! I actually saw this posted on ebird haha...
  6. Merlin with that black tail with thin white stripes.
  7. I didn't make that very clear haha, I didn't actually see the bird, I saw that someone had posted a sighting of it.
  8. This bird was here earlier, agreed with Mountain Bluebird. Super cool!
  9. Forester's Tern (right) and Sandwich Tern (left)
  10. Male and female Oregon Dark-eyed Juncos:
  11. Post pictures of birds fighting.
  12. Haha! I didn't notice any difference in speed, but they do flap faster.
  13. Here's another Cackler with Canada Geese:
  14. I find it hard to contact anybody through eBird. I would search through checklists and find someone's profile who includes contact information. Otherwise, I would probably look for tire tracks where people have pulled off a lot. Sometimes birders are crazy and simply park on the side of the road . If there is a local Audubon group in your area, they will probably know as well.
  15. Females have a colored crest as well, although much less apparent and more orange than red. Learned this while watching birds being banded ? .
  16. Well darn. Any ID skills I ever had have gone out the window lately. I'm still not sure, but I can see Cooper's.
