  1. Couldn't get any better photos than these, sorry. Are they decent enough to say whether this an eared grebe? I've seen horned grebe at this location before, but not eared. They're from this January, Vancouver Island BC
  2. Thanks Tony! I really appreciate the thorough explanation and links. I was having trouble digging up any resources for this.
  3. Vancouver Island BC, sometime last month:
  4. I'm pretty sure these are all yellow rumped warblers, but there's so much variation within the species. Can any of these pictures be narrowed down for the type/sex/age? I like to record that information with my pictures when possible. This was a week or two ago at Vancouver Island, BC. I think Audubon's is the "normal" one to see in this area, but I'm not sure how to tell male/female/1st year birds apart with non-breeding plumage.
  5. Oh, maybe it's a pigeon guillemot. I'm just noticing that those have a lot of variation in their markings and the shape would fit.
  6. I think the colour and streaking look right for marbled murrelet, but the head shape is throwing me off so I'm not sure. Vancouver Island, BC.
  7. My best guess is warbling vireo. Vancouver Island, BC.
  8. Thanks! I didn't know Willow used to be called Traill's, so I learned something too.
  9. Vancouver Island BC, from the last week or two. I think they might be willow flycatchers, but I'm not sure. What do you guys think?
  10. Anyone want to take a stab at this one? I'm awful with my shorebirds. It's from August, around Victoria BC. Pretty sure all pictures are the same individual.
