Thank you! Yellowlegs was my first thought, but as I took a closer look at the photos I talked myself out of it!

This time of year is especially hard for me to ID birds with juvenile's coming on the scene. I did not hear or see any adult Clark's Nutcrackers at this location I was birding today....but that doesn't mean they weren't somewhere around. Thank you all for your help!

Ahhh, I bet it is! There were Horned Larks in the area. I assumed it was a sparrow....no wonder I was so confused!
Thank you Birding Boy!

This bird was seen today at a wildlife refuge area near Great Falls MT (north-central). I apologize for the poor photo quality, but these were the only I could get. I believe it may be a Grasshopper Sparrow, because of the habitat, and after observing the behavior. But not sure at all. I would appreciate help in a positive ID.
Thank You!

Thank you both! I had thought of a House Finch but it looked to have a yellowish tinge to it's belly, so that was a little confusing...
Help with bird ID in So Central Montana
in Help Me Identify a North American Bird
Posted
Seen yesterday in south central Montana. There were two running along a drainage ditch outside of town. They were clipping along pretty good so I was fortunate to get a photo. I don't see many upland game birds and I think they are possibly Gray Partridge, but a positive ID would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
