  1. I took these pictures today in south west Wisconsin about 5pm. I know it is a female cardinal but why is her chest so dark? I've not seen one like this before, the chest are always lighter. Thanks, Karen
  2. Photos are 2 of 18 taken December 29, 2018 between 1:00PM and 1:45PM EST under partly cloudy skies. Taken in Sea Isle Plantation, Indian Beach, NC(on an island) in a wooded yard approx. 100 feet back from the sand beach. Elevation +25 MHT Bird appeared to be smaller than the red and rusty colored cardinals in the yard that day. He was dining both in a fly thru feeder about 7 feet above ground and on the ground beneath the feeder.
  3. Hi! This bird is confusing me ... saw it on the ground and around low branches of trees in Bruce Peninsula Ontario. Just slightly smaller than a cardinal and absolutely no pink or reddish colour at all, (and beak slightly more pointy) he/she is tawny grey/brown with the dark brown on it's crest and a distinctive brown/black line from it's eye. I thought maybe cedar waxwing but again .. was hanging solo and seems like it is something else (think it is too big to be a Tufted Titmouse ...) .... Any suggestions? I am a new birder so all my assumptions could be wrong LOL!
  4. Seen today in Scottsdale, AZ. Is this a cardinal hybrid with pyrrhuloxia? any help is appreciated.
