  1. Good morning, All. We are in the planning stages of a Fall 2022 visit to Yellowstone & Grand Tetons NP. We plan to fly into Boise and bird our way to Bozeman, stay there for a night, and then on to Yellowstone & Grand Tetons for a goup hike, then back to Bozeman for our flight out. Following is our itinerary thus far, and any advice/suggestions on any places I should skip or add, and how much time to spend at each, would be welcome. Boise--fly in; rent car & leave town straight from airport Hagerman Fossil Beds--not just for birding, Hubby wants to see it, and I need my NPs Passport stamp! Craters of the Moon--we both want to see it (and ditto the stamp) and understand there are birds there Camas NWR Market Lake WMA Sawtell Peak--drive this Bozeman Yellowstone & Grand Tetons--camping, hiking, biking & rafting; birding on the sly as we will be with a group Bozeman--fly out
  2. We have a bird feeder outside out kitchen window and see lots of House Finches (I think) but this new one came the other day and has stuck around. It's smaller than the rest but I'm unable to ID it. We are west of Boise, Idaho about an hour and it's January of 2021. Weather is upper 30s/low 40s during the day. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you!
  3. We have this hawk that comes around looking for quail to grab. I got this front and back shot through our kitchen window of it sitting on our back fence. Location is Nampa, Idaho, SW of Boise about 30 miles. December 2020. I think it's too small to be a Red-tailed...maybe a Swainson's? or Nothern Goshawk? Thanks up front.
