  1. Southeastern Washington State (zip 99352), size of a Robin or Starling. NOT coloring of starling I have ever seen! Brown, not black. Color pattern on back wings same as a sparrow. Certainly not a sparrow, tho, either! All by "himself" at the feeder. Ate sunflower seeds in gulps!
  2. Hi, All-- This is not my pic. It was posted on our local "All About..." FB page. According to post: The bird was found on the ground--'5” long with a beak that is about 1'. He was sitting with his beak touching the ground with his eyes open.' It was taken to a local wildlife rescue organization. Coastal Alabama. Last night (Sept. 27 2019).
  3. This juvenile hawk landed on a dock at MLK Shoreline Park in Oakland today, as a storm was approaching. My first guess was Cooper's Hawk, but the tail seems a bit short. Overall, he seems a better match to Cooper's than Sharp shinned, except for the tail... Thoughts?
  4. IMG_6759+65 by Aqua Tarkus, on Flickr Seen in St. Louis County, MO on Sep. 5 at George Winter Park. I thought it looked too small for the usual great egret. Also didn't look quite right. Comparing pictures on Whatbird leads me to think juvenile snowy egret. I have only seen a couple of times here in about 9 years. Thanks David R
