  1. Taken on 11-12-2022 at Silver Lake Reservoir in Los Angeles. I'm not sure what the black bird on the left is.
  2. Taken on 9-24-2022 at a park adjacent to the Los Angeles River in Elysian Valley.
  3. Taken on 8-21-2022 at Sepulveda Basin in Van Nuys, CA. The placement of the dark patch on the face has me confused. Both photos are of the same bird.
  4. Taken on 12-10-2021 at Silverlake Reservoir in Silverlake (Los Angeles), CA. The three photos of the male are all the same bird. I believe this is a Greater Scaup, but would like confirmation. I'm not sure about the female (this is the only angle I have of it).
  5. Taken on 11-4-2021 in the late afternoon at Hansen Dam Debris Basin in Lakeview Terrace (Los Angeles) CA. This one sandpiper was hanging out with a couple of dowitchers. I thought it was a Least Sandpiper. I decided to see what Merlin had to say about the photo of the single bird. It gave the following suggestions in order: Semipalmated Sandpiper Baird's Sandpiper Least Sandpiper White-rumped Sandpiper What do you all think?
  6. Taken in the evening of 9-27-2021 at Silverlake Reservoir in Los Angeles, CA. I'm having trouble with this sparrow.
  7. All taken 2-7-2021 at Hansen Dam in Los Angeles, CA. The perched bird was taken late afternoon. The image was lightened quite a bit and has been upsized to 300%. The gull was taken late afternoon and was far away in the background. The image was lighted some and has been upsized to 300% The raptor photos were taken at dusk. The images were lightened quite a bit. Have at it.
  8. The bird in flight was taken 1-2-2021 in late afternoon above the Los Angeles River in Atwater Village, CA. The white rump makes me think Northern Harrier, but under-wing pattern and streaking on the breast seem more representative of a Red-shouldered Hawk -- although a Northern Harrier has similar patterning. The bird in the tree was taken 1-3-2021 in the afternoon at Hansen Dam, Los Angeles, CA. I believe this is a Red-shouldered Hawk, but wish I could see the tail pattern.
  9. Taken 1-3-2021 at Hansen Dam, Los Angeles, CA. 1) I think this is an American Wigeon 2) Redhead or Canvasback? (my first either way) 3) Not sure 4) Teal or Northern Shoveler? There were lots of Northern Shovelers, but I'm not sure I saw any Teals.
  10. Taken 1-3-2021 at Hansen Dam, Los Angeles, CA. Are both of these birds Cooper's Hawks?
  11. Taken 1-3-2021 at Hansen Dam, Los Angeles, CA. I think this is a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, but want to make sure its not a California Gnatcatcher.
  12. Taken 1-3-2020 at Hansen Dam, Los Angeles, CA. Aside from the Northern Shovelers in the foregound of the first photo, are all the others Ruddy Ducks?
