  3. Taken on 12-31-2021 at Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens, San Marino, CA. I have never identified a Purple Finch before, but I'm thinking this looks like one.
  4. This was taken on 3-24-2021 at Quail Lake in northern Los Angeles County. Would this one be a Lesser Scaup?
  5. Looking back at some older photos. This was taken on 3-24-2021 at Quail Lake in northern Los Angeles County. Can this scaup be identified? Thanks.
  6. Taken 11-29-2020 in the afternoon at Vasquez Rocks Natural Area, Agua Dulce, CA. 1) Western Bluebird? 2) Adult and immature White-crowned Sparrows? 3 & 4) Not sure, but possibly a California Towhee? I saw one a little earlier. 5) Crow? saying hello to a Red-tailed. Other's photographed same place were Bewick's Wren, Bushtit, California Towhee and Common Raven.
  7. I went hiking in the hills in Simi Valley which is on the border of Los Angeles County but it is in Ventura County in Southern California. In the hills there is an abandoned golf course with a small lake or pond. There are swallow or swift type looking birds swooping around close to the water and I have no idea what type of birds these are. I have searched and looked at my bird books with no success. The bird is mostly black with white around its neck and a white stomach. This is the only photo I was able to get because they flew very fast.
