  1. Orchard Oriole, male 1st summer? Southeastern Massachusetts.
  2. Hello All. Here are a couple of photos of a bird I saw on October 4th, 2020 in San Joaquin county CA. Going by what is common in the area, it should be a Red-winged Blackbird, but it just does not check all the boxes for me. For the first few seconds I thought that I was looking at a American Robin, due to the rusty coloration of the chest. Then I realized that it was not a robin (probably the head and beak), so I grabbed my camera. I was able to get these two poor photos. I also pushed the brightness on them to show the underside is not black. Today when I was looking through my field guide, the Orchard Oriole (not common here) made me think about this bird again. It was in the top of a tree, and not with any other birds. I do not recall it making any sounds. Thanks for your input.
