1. I'm fairly sure this is a Lesser Scaup. (Apologies to Shakespeare, but I never read him either!) I have a couple more photos if needed. Quequechan River Rail Trail, Fall River, MA
2. I saw this duck at the Temsco Pond in Juneau, Alaska at 7:00 am on May 22, 2019. I also posted on the iBird Only help forum. There my ID of it being a scaup was confirmed with some discussion as to whether it is a greater or lesser scaup. What I'm curious about and interested in is the rose coloration in the bill. I'm hoping that someone can offer some possible reasons for this occurrence. Thank you.
3. Hello, Forum! I was in the South Meadow of Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx, NYC when I spotted these sea ducks. I know the little guys are Ruddy ducks for sure, but the bigger black ones? Are they Scaups or Goldeneyes or something else? As always, your knowledge and help is greatly appreciated. Thank you and hope you're having a happy new year so far. -Peter PelhamDucks by degibox, on Flickr PelhamDucks-2 by degibox, on Flickr PelhamDucks-4 by degibox, on Flickr PelhamDucks-3 by degibox, on Flickr PelhamDucks-5 by degibox, on Flickr PelhamDucks-6 by degibox, on Flickr uuhhh what happened ?
4. Seen in Morro Bay, CA on March 3, 2019. Greater?
5. Seen at Pismo Beach, CA on 11/26/19 and 11/27/19.
6. Seen at Pismo Beach, CA on 11/11/19. Have more pics if needed.
7. Lexington, SC, February 2016. There were several more but these are the clearest shots. Greaters, Lessers, Can't Tell, or None of the Above? Thanks!
8. Salt water, Quebec Coast, June. Unquestionably a bonded pair -- stayed right together over several days. To me, the male looks more like a Lesser, the female more like a Greater. Any thoughts? Thanks!
