07 Aug 2021 Davis co. UT; Antelope Island SP; salt mudflats, marsh, & lake These phalaropes were all counted as Wilson's at the time (group birding), but most of them appear to have ear patches. Are the ones with the patches Red-necked instead of Wilson's?

We visited Canyonlands, Arches, Grand Staircase/Escalante, Bryce, Zion, and primitive-camped in nearby campsites. With the exception of a pre-hike day of birding in SLC at Antelope Island SP & Farmington Bay WMA, all sightings were incidental while hiking, lunching, or camping (Great Horned Owl, Common Nighthawk). I saw 88 species and picked up 31 Lifers. I imagine the numbers would be even greater if it had been a dedicated birding trip with time to photograph & expert birders to help with IDs. 10 Aug 2021 Grand co. UT; Arches NP; Delicate Arch Trail; heavily used; abundant junipers & scrub Several birds were flitting around in the low vegetation & junipers. I caught a quick glimpse of one and--unsure if this is important--he had obvious white around the pupil. When I uploaded to Birdnet, it ID'd as Bushtit. possBshTit_UT_20210810_121801 - Copyed.wav

15 Aug 2021 Washington co. UT; Zion NP Scout Lookout--ca. 4500' elevation 1. Northern Harrier--our guide ID'd as Mexican Spotted Owl, but I disagree. However, I have only seen NOHA during Winter down south, where they fly low above the swamps & marshes. This one was quite acrobatic. Flying 500-1000' higher than my vantage point. West Rim Trail, paved portion near Trailhead (heavily used) 2. Juniper Titmouse 3. Say's Phoebe--just learned this bird, but, I swear, it sometimes looks like a bluebird or anything but a phoebe, so want to be sure before I call it Visitor's Center 4. House Sparrows

12 Aug 2021 Garfield co. UT; Grand Staircase/Escalante NP; along Lower Calf Creek Falls trail; abundant vegetation; numerous shady areas; many birds Sorry about the human conversation; these were hikers, not birders. There is quite a unique-sounding bird in the background. In defense of my fellow hikers, they put me on birds whenever anyone saw them. I just had to do hike-thru birding. 20210812_105958 - Copyed.wav

07 Aug 2021 Davis co. UT; Antelope Island SP; abundant salt mud flats (though much less than usual, I was told) 1. Neotropic Cormorant and 2 Mallards 2. Clark's Grebe (L), Western Grebe (R) 3. I think all Greater YLs, but the lack of flank streaking on the rear-most bird... 4. If not on a nest, I would think male Redhead in eclipse plumage. Or is it merely on a nest and not nesting? 5. Ducks...

11 Aug 2021 Wayne co. UT; Capitol Reef NP On the trail 1. Maybe just a pigeon... Fruita Picnic Area 2. Black Phoebe 3. Song Sparrow 4.-7. I thought these might be Say's Phoebe, but AllAboutBirds states that species avoids watercourses, and these were in trees beside a flowing stream/river. There was a small flock of these birds. 5. 6. 7.

07 Aug 2021 OMGoodness. We met up with a couple from the Great Salt Lake Audubon Society who were nice enough to take us birding. I got 16 Lifers just today, including Wilson's Phalarope, of which there were at least 10,000. At Antelope Island, we birded along the causeway, the Visitor's Center, Garr Ranch, and the "Hollywood" spot where I saw my first Burrrowing Owl. ❤️❤️❤️ At Framington, we picked up Western Grebe, White-faced Ibis & Bank Swallow. It was an amazing day!

Hi, All. I posted this on the Birding Trips thread, but didn't get a response, so putting it here in hopes it will be seen and maybe one or more may have some advice and/or insight.
