Garters and Nerodia watersnakes do that too. Nice photo! Where was this? This may actually be a Sonoran, not a Bullsnake.

Weld County, Colorado on a dirt road in Diary Farm/Farm territory.

A Western Gray! I’ve only seen Eastern Before. I suppose they’re very common there, right?

In the East and the South, Grays are much more common than Fox Squirrels. It seems to be the opposite out here (Sacramento) as I have seen hundreds of Fox Squirrels here and maybe a couple of dozen Grays in the 18 years that I've been here. Also, in the East/South the Fox Squirrels are much larger than the Grays, and here again it's the opposite....the Grays are the larger!! Go figure........😏

Where I am in California, eastern Gray are the common, then Western Gray. I see them every day, but unless you live in a forest like me you’ll rarely see them. Fox Squirrel are pretty uncommon.

Oh. I forgot that Eastern Gray and Eastern Fox were introduced to the west coast.

I've seen a lot more California Ground Squirrel but they are relatively common if you go where they are.

So...this young porcupine "ran" from me and ended up on our front porch.  He then climbed the garden hose hanger and tried to hang onto a window screen.  I had the crazy idea to place a pillow below him on the porch just in case he fell. Sure enough, he fell right onto the pillow! 🤣  It's too bad I didn't get a video.
