southisland
WOW. There are so many outstanding photos in this topic. Thanks for sharing everybody. I haven't been by lately, but what a pleasure catching up. I got drunk on the porch and took pictures of bee's. Have a great summer.

TexasCobra
Black Witch Moth. The tree bark coloration had me thinking it was a moth but it does not have the fuzzy antennae. Very large insect. About the width of my four fingers. I found it in the garage. It was hanging on the wall mounted creeper I use to get under my old cars.https://texasbutterflyranch.com/2012/07/31/black-witch-moth-large-common-bat-like-and-harmless/It has some interesting cultural and mythological associations. I do not gamble and I am not susceptible to superstition, but the location of its discovery suggests that I have another classic car acquisition in the near future. 4
TexasCobra
Backyard Bunny! This critter is enjoying a picnic lunch in my backyard. If she invites a few friends I might consider selling the lawn tractor! 1
TexasCobra
"Whatever Lola wants... Lola gets!" -- 'Damn Yankees' "I thought that you'd want what I want... Sorry my dear" -- 'A Little Night Music' "Is a danger to be trusting one another, One will seldom want to do what other wishes; But unless someday somebody trust somebody, There'll be nothing left on earth excepting fishes!" -- 'The King and I" At her first appearance in the show ring Lola slumped to the floor when the judge put her hands on Lola. Lola won no points against an inferior bitch because she did not exhibit the bold, confident, and aloof stature demanded by the judging standard for the Bouvier des Flandres breed. From her second appearance in the show ring, Lola has never failed to bring home a point or more. The problem is that she has few competitors in Texas. She would collect a greater number of points from a single show if she bested a larger field. The Virginia, DC, and Maryland bouvier breeder's club we belonged to some twenty years ago could enter quite a number of dogs and bitches. Here in Texas the breed is seldom found. It seems like Texas could use a breed that, translated from the French, is named "ox driver of Flanders".

The bouvier puppy is similar to a human infant (I have helped my wife raise three children) in requiring time and patience with consistent and loving care and instruction. Here is where we started.
