Raptors, and More So. Cal ID Help

Recommended Posts

Good Morning and Happy Mother's Day,

My birding isn't a Mother's Day sanctioned event, so I got out yesterday and I think found a new species for me. All taken yesterday in Souther California.

Raptors:

I believe these are Red-tailed Hawks (picture 2 and 3 are the same bird) #4 and #5 was a smaller raptor harassing the pair of hawks (I had a hard time getting a shot and it didn't come out great).  I believe I have it narrowed down to a Northern Harrier and a White-tailed Kite.  I'm strongly leaning towards the Kite, but all help welcome.

New Species, I think:  I believe this is a Oak Titmouse

(6-9)

10, 11, 12  I think this is a Yellow-Rumped Warbler

13, 14, 15, 16 I also think is a Yellow-Rumped, but not sure

17, 18, 19  I'm not sure.  I remember this bird had a sharp 'chirp' which caught my attention.  My birding by ear is fairly non-existence so please do not let that shape any identification.

20  Ash-throated Flycatcher.  Terrible shot and the disadvantage of hiking with others (late start in the day) and on a nice Spring day with the CV19 restrictions are relaxing (lot's of people and bikes)

21.  And what started my day and my favorite yardbird (to date) Ruby-crowned Kinglet.

Thanks for your help and have a Wonder Mother's Day!

Red-tailed Hawk is correct

4-5 = White-tailed Kite

6-9 = Oak Titmouse

10-16 = Lesser Goldfinch

17-19  Pass

20 Ash-throated

21 Ruby crowned kinglet

Pass on 20 but I agree with the rest.

So much for my 'white font' theory.  If that was the case, we'd still see the OK in the small gray square.

Do you get the same results in Internet Explorer?  If it displays correctly in IE, you might try uninstalling Chrome, rebooting it, and re-installing it.  I'm not a Chrome user and there's probably an easier way to reset it than that.

Windows 10 - Google Chrome

I have Windows 10 - Google Chrome also and I haven't had that problem. It always tells me I cannot add any more reactions today. In fact, it tells me that waaaaaaaayyyyyyy too often!!! ☹️

Has the text always been missing from this warning, or was it there when you joined the site and then disappeared later?  Was it there before the Great Site Crash of '18?

I wonder if you're missing the font entirely.
