sbruenjes
I saw this bird today at DeKorte Park in Northern New Jersey. I believe it might be an ovenbird, or maybe a Swainson's thrush...but any help would be greatly appreciated. It was in some brush next to a body of water at the park. The Bird Nuts
Swainson's Thrush. The spots on an Ovenbird's belly create streaks. Ovenbirds also have black and orange crown stripes and are a lighter green-brown color. 1

Benjamin
Structure and perching location are also relevant here... Ovenbirds stand more horizontally, while thrushes like this one have a distinctive upright look. Ovenbirds are also most often found on the ground, or perching low in dense shrubs. Thrushes can be seen in many different locations, but one of their favorite things to do is to slowly fly from perch to perch on exposed branches well above the ground. 1
