Narrowed down to two, I think

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Taken in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada today.  I figure this is either a bay-breasted or chestnut-sided warbler.  Pictures are of the same bird.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks in advance.  Mike

Can I ask what you see in these pictures that differentiates it from a Chestnut-sided?

Chestnut-sided Warblers, as their name implies, have very limited chestnut color on the flanks. Bay-breasted, on the other hand, additionally have brownish throats, breasts, and crowns.

Also note gray back, separated wingbars, and buffy undertail coverts.
