Tim Emmerzaal
This would fit the most I think, but I am doubting about this one since it has a more orangy look to it. Or is this a normal variation? Spotted today inn Rochester, MN. Thanks!

akandula
Agreed. The bright lighting and the fact that it's not fully molted into breeding colors make it look slightly lighter in color.
Phalarope713
Agreed. The shade of red/orange varies a bit.
Tim Emmerzaal
Thanks for the input! Much appreciated. I also see that something went wrong with the posting causing a double post, sorry for that! Edited May 25, 2020 by Tim Emmerzaal
JimB
I recently posted the same question with photos and received the same responses. I did a quick Google search and saw that there are orange variants of this species with photos showing a definite orange color (like the fruit) to some more reddish-orange like yours and the one I posted. The one that I observed and photographed was mostly in the shade and still had a distinct orange color which I've never seen before on a Scarlet Tanager.

I was just merging the double posts without comment because there were so many of them. But it wasn't your fault.
