Help to ID this bird found on beach of Lake Tahoe, California

Recommended Posts

This is actually a female Brown-headed Cowbird. Note the overall brownish color and streaks on her breast, as well as the stout bill. A Dipper is bluish-gray overall and has a much shorter tail, and has a longer, slimmer bill.

Bird Brain, no apologies are necessary. Your description about cowbird and dipper are helpful for me. Next time, maybe I will run into a cowbird. It is all about learning. I really appreciate you guys/girls help.

You are correct, I jumped the gun on this one. With her beak full it looked stouter. I should have looked closer. My apologies for the mis-ID @oakpark
