Help a guy out

Recommended Posts

I went to this reservoir today near Colorado Springs hoping to see the white-faced ibises that were reported there. It's impossible to get close to the water, so my pictures suck. There were a lot of coots nearby, but these dark figures don't quite look like coots. But maybe that's because we sometimes see what we want to see. If you don't see ibis, don't worry about it. Just thought I'd throw this out here and see what you all think.

Where is the Hubble telescope when you need it? I agree with Benjamin. The upright bird in the first photo looks good--rusty brown neck and greenish iridescent on the wing. The hunched-over bird to the left may be as well but it's a little harder to say. The center bird in the second photo also looks good. I'm not sure about anything else.

With those body and bill shapes, I'd have no qualms about marking these as White-faced.  #2 is either an ibis or a kiwi, and you should be so lucky!
