Seen a couple of Lazuli lately and gotten good looks at one but just for curiosities sake - with just a brief glimpse of a blue, orange , and white bird how can you tell them apart?  Is white on the wings always diagnostic of Lazuli? Any other tips?

Yes, while Western Bluebirds have plain wings, Lazulis have prominent wingbars. Also, Lazulis have thicker, mostly gray bills while Western Bluebirds have thin black bills. And Westerns tend to be darker in color than Lazulis.
