Hi,

Can any more experienced birders out there help me with this ID?  It looks vaguely like a sparrow, but it doesn’t seem to be any one of the species I’ve seen before.

(Photographed today in Richard W. DeKorte Park – Lyndhurst, NJ (i.e. the Meadowlands)

Thanks,

Steve

Agreed

A female, apparently.  I was hoping this was a new bird, but I recall now I had actually seen one before.  Males, much more frequently it seems.  Thank you both!
