Small bird attacks red tailed hawk

Recommended Posts

I have never really seen chickadees in this urban area, but could this possibly be one (the white is why I wonder)? I glimpsed it only very quickly before I ran for my camera, and thought maybe a catbird, it was grey or brown with a long tail. Screeching loudly. The hawk took flight and it kept after the hawk, joined by a blue jay. We are in urban east coast Massachusetts, USA, thank you!

That looks like a Northern Mockingbird with those white wing patches and outer tail feathers. They're known to be aggressive to anything goes near their nests.

It did have a long tail like that but I don’t see any with the white banded neck. I am looking for a screeching sound to compare but I can only find (every other sound) they make.
