Our group could not ID this bird

I was with a group of birders at San Pedro House outside of Sierra Vista, Arizona. This bird was seen near the San Pedro River

today, August 25. We never could decide what is was. Thanks for your help.

Looks like a Yellow Warbler.

The bill seems too long for a warbler. One of the orioles I think

Looks like a Common Yellowthroat to me.  Orioles have different proportions.

I agree with Common Yellowthroat -- a Yellow Warbler would have bright yellow in the tail feathers, while any of our orioles should show wing bars and either yellow undertail coverts or some sort of face pattern (or both).

Okay, why?  What characteristics of an Oriole do you see?  What species of oriole?  My oriole ID skills aren't very good and I could use some pointers.

I agree with Common Yellowthroat. Definitely not an oriole.

An oriole would have a much longer tail than that. I'd say its a Common Yellowthroat.
