Jodi Nielson
Black-bellied Whistling-Duck...apparently pretty uncommon in Bowling Green, KY. There were 5 of them at the lake this afternoon.
dragon49
I feel good about finally capturing this Bay-breasted Warbler. I'm confident I saw the correct bird my two previous sightings, as a field guide, and another experienced birder told me exactly what I was looking at, but I didn't get a good look at the features. While the sightings did meet the technical qualifications for a lifer, I've always felt guilty about this particular one: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/498723561

There were a number of experienced birders who are part of this shared checklist, so it would have been embarrassing to have gotten busted for this one. 🙂 I'm glad I refreshed the forum before dinner. Hopefully, I caught it before anybody noticed. I deleted my bay-breasted warbler observation and added the photos to the Northern Parula section. So, the Bay-Breasted warbler remains one of twelve of my photo nemeses.

dragon49
Back on October 1st, my report of having observed a House Funch lifer was in error, as I had seen at least one of the birds at a family feeder in New York, back in 2018. I just found a photo of one of the birds on my iPhone. I had intended on adding it to my eBird catchup lifers when I joined but forgot to. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/504088511

dragon49
My only other sighting of a Pomarine Jaeger was through a scope, and I didn't think to take a picture. Birds are cool
Common bird, but since i live out in the country, I don't usually see them. Yesterday, I was in the car, and a male landed close to me. I was able to take multiple photos of the bird.

I found they were pretty shy and don't really come out in the open that much.
