Photo Lifers

Crested Owl.  Seen at La Selva Biological Station in Costa Rica.  The bird was in terrible light and behind a tangle.  I moved around taking photos from different angles, but had little hope any of the photos would be decent.  This was the only decent photo and I was surprised it was this decent.

Snowcap.  I had hoped to see this bird while at Rancho Naturalista in Costa Rica and was pleased to see both a male and a female.  Unfortunately, there was a very aggressive Rufous-tailed Hummingbird that would promptly chase the Snowcaps whenever they tried to feed.  So, the photo opportunities were limited.  This was the best shot I was able to get...

Heermann's Gull.  Just back from a trip to Baja Sur, Mexico and spent time in La Paz.  Gull's are generally difficult for me to identify, but this one was pretty easy to ID.

I wasn't sure what this bird was when I first saw it, but I managed to get a decent photo of it.  Merlin told me it was a Lazuli Bunting, which was a surprise.  The next day I saw a pair of Lazuli Buntings including a male, no mistake about IDing that bird, but I was unable to get a photo.
