Allen’s, Anna’s or Rufous Hummingbird?

Recommended Posts

At my backyard bird feeder in Redmond, Oregon (high desert in Central Oregon).

iBird states 41% confidence that it is Allen’s, but they’re not typically found in this area. Also gives 21% confidence that it’s an Anna’s and 19% that it’s a Rufous (my original thought is that it’s a Rufous, but I am in NO way an expert...I’m barely an amateur!)

Thanks!

It's a female Rufous/Allen's type bird, but separating females is a nightmare I've never dealt with personally so I can't say much beyond that.

While this technically is unidentifiable, this is almost certainly a Rufous. There’s never been an Allen’s report anywhere close to there, while rufous is a common breeder.
