Townsend Solitaire?

Recommended Posts

Saw this bird late afternoon on 7/6 in Los Gatos, California.  It was moving through the tree by a dammed up stream.  Can't figure this one out.  Thrush like look with a prominent white eye ring and mottled breast is consistent with a juvenile Townsend Solitaire but not sure about the back and that bird would be very rare here.  Would appreciate your opinions.  Thanks.

Welcome to Whatbird!

That's actually a juvenile Western Bluebird. You can even see some blue on the wings.

There were quite a few bluebirds in the area so that makes sense.  Thanks again.
