smittyone@cox.net Posted July 8, 2020 Share Posted July 8, 2020 Seen today North of Lincoln, NE. I believe this is a Western Kingbird. I'm confused by the orange feathers on the top of it's head. I actually found the answer (about the feathers) after posting the question. They only display the orange head feathers during courtship, or when threatened. Absolutely right, except that you can get rid of the regional qualifier. All members of Tyrannus have concealed crown patches.
