I photographed this bird this morning and I'm stumped. It was sitting in the top of a tree and it was a large bird, maybe 8 inches? Looking at the pictures I was thinking maybe a female or juvenile northern flicker but I'm not sure? This was taken in Clear Brook Virginia near the West Virginia state line. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

I agree with a juvenile European Starling. Note the thin bill and short tail.
