Toronto BlueJay
Hello, Came across this photo when I was clearing off my memory card. I remember taking it because I thought it may be a Fish Crow. The lighting was very bad, but is it identifiable from the "silhouette" the beak looks "sleeker" than a common crow, no? Taken in mid-June in Elora, Ontario near the river at the gorge.https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155627748280009&type=1&l=5b69150ae3 Thanks in advance
The Bird Nuts
The only reliable way to differentiate Fish and American Crows (other than by length of certain primaries in flight) is by voice.

I don't think I'll get any sound out of this photo no matter how much manipulation i do. Thanks for the info. I'll have to listen to some recordings so I know for future crow encounters.
psweet
Given the location, there's very little chance this is a Fish Crow, I think. The only records in the area this year have been right on the shores of Lake Ontario. There were a few records a bit south of you in 2012 (around Guelph), and one record at Belwood Lake that same year.
