Yeah, just checking.  There've been a couple of incidents around here when well-intentioned individuals 'returned' critters to what they thought were the correct environments.

When I was taking a class on the Pacific Northwest shoreline, my professor told a story about people walking along a low tide and tossing sea stars out into the water saying "It meant something to that individual".  Little did they know they were signing their death warrant as dinner to their predators.  So yes, it meant something to the sea star but not quite what they had in mind. The predators were sure grateful I'd bet.

May I ask what is that?

It looks like a boat on fire to me, or one that's billowing smoke from some major engine problems as it struggles to make its way back to shore. I'm sure @SirVive will let us know which.

Burned to the water's edge - not sure if it ended up sinking after that. First thing I saw when I looked out my window over the surf.

What species?

I don't claim to be a reptile expert, but I looked it up, and after some research, I believe this fella was a Twin-Spotted Spiny Lizard and it should be noted that it was doing its morning push-ups.

I could confirm that for you. Which state are you in?
