The "Other" things you see when Birding

Snorkeling is indeed absolutely amazing @Clip! It has been my hobby for a long time; every time we visited family in the Caribbean and we went swimming I had my goggles on. This year, however, I thought to myself, let's buy some accessories to make pictures from the wildlife below the sea level.

I did already have a Canon G7X mark II which my girlfriend uses extensively when we are on a holiday, let's see if there is an underwater case for this camera that I can buy. Apparently there was one; the Canon WP-DC55. Below is a picture that I took with that setup. It was a bit of an investment, but it payed off big time!

This is fantastic! I'm kind of jealous too. I have only seen one sea turtle in the almost 4 years we have been living in and exploring Florida. The one we did see had not made water after hatching and a couple of park rangers whisked it away to release at night. So far my snorkeling has been limited to our pool and few springs where there isn't much current... I so want to give the ocean a try but I'm such a poor swimmer. I know it sounds odd for someone with a pool in the backyard I know. The under water camera I have is an AKASO EK7000. It wasn't expensive. Our granddaughter used it when we took her snorkeling in the Keys. My husband and I stayed in the boat and watched her have fun. Here is an example of one she took with the camera. Yeah! The other lifers were Least Chipmunk and Yellow-bellied Marmot. Also lots of Mule Deer, Golden-mantled Ground Squirrels and even a Red Fox!

Nice! Have you seen Moose and Elk yet?

Yes! But both quite a few years ago.

I know a place in Boulder County where you can usual find moose and see them up close and personal if you go at the right time of day which is dawn. I had one walk within 6 feet of me once. Magnificent creatures and beautiful area. If you make it back to Colorado and get close to Boulder County send me a PM and I will tell you where.

I would discourage anyone looking for an up close and personal encounter with a Moose. Just like a Bear or a Cougar, they can be dangerous animals and should always be viewed from a safe distance. Here's a quote from a Colorado Parks and Wildlife video.

 https://ourcommunitynow.com/travel/colorado-survival-guide-what-to-do-if-youre-charged-by-a-moose

"Each year, more people are attacked by moose than by any other species of wildlife. Moose are one of the most unpredictable and dangerous animals in our state,” said Elissa Slezak, a district wildlife manager for Colorado Parks and Wildlife, in a video about the increased number of moose attacks in recent years.
