jayD
Do you ever have something walk out and block your shot of a bird? 1
lonestranger
I was sitting out on the front deck watching the birds when I was startled by this spider who started crossing a single strand of web connected from the table to my chair. I moved the chair and then started taking pictures. After a bunch of mostly shadowed photos, the spider dropped down and dangled in the sunlight for a few shots. The spider was last seen on the other side of the porch dangling from MJ's chair, which she has refused to sit in since.

lonestranger
I was walking amongst the apple trees yesterday looking for warblers when I noticed a large number of wasps coming and going from a single apple they had hollowed out. A different angle that shows three, of at least four or more, that were deep inside.

My first thought was elk as the rub was over 6' high and there was a ton of other sign nearby but can antlers explain those parallel grooves? Or maybe multiple sp sharing the same tree? Quiscalus quiscula
In the process of identifying plants around my yard, I realized how many non native ornamentals there are from the previous owner of the property. To make my yard better for birds, we're putting in a serviceberry this fall.

I thought that there was a connection to your "Suzie" name suggestion and the mention of the song stuck in your head. I was drawing a blank on what song you were referring to so I turned to Google for "Suzie" song suggestions. The results I posted just make me look old.....and show that I have better taste in music than you do.

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck... And I don't see how not wanting the amorous muskrats stuck in my head reflects badly on my taste in music! I'd prefer the sleeping little Suzie, but the whole point is that neither one is part of my usual mental repertoire ? (And the connection was a MUSKRAT named Sam, which led to Susie the muskrat...)
