At a loss on a Colorado Bird

Recommended Posts

Seen 8/5 in Lory State Park on the Arthur's Rock trail.  (Where we also found 2 rattlesnakes on the trail, my kids will never forgive me.  At least they got a good story out of it.)

It was on a dry hillside low to the ground in a bush.

I looked through all the birds listed in the "Birds of Lory State Park" flyer I got at the ranger station and can not figure it out.

The bill looks far too curved to be that of a chat, but I'm having trouble coming up with any other solution. Maybe it's another chat x oriole hybrid!

Any suggestions on how I should put this in ebird?

As Chat with the photo?

Thanks.

I actually do think this is a chat i think that some of the blades of grass are making the beak appear more curved than it actually is, every other feature checks out for a chat the yellow coloration on the breast the location and the size and shape..
