Lexington County, central SC, today.

A farm pond near my house was lowered about 4.5 feet last week, exposing as much as 75 feet of lake bed.  This has attracted a wider-than-usual range of waders and many shorebirds rarely seen in the immediate area.

Thin eye ring, white over black eye stripes, thin edging on the wings, dark bill, upright posture, white notch on the shoulder, clear belly, brown tint on the breast.
Working the shore, butt a-bounce, but I didn't see him get his feet wet.

The only thing shaking my confidence in immature / non-breeding Spotted is the color of the legs.  Are they just dirty?
