New Disciple
Hello. On 8/21 I was in my backyard on north shore Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. I was sitting with the birds and quite close to a generically seeded round feeder so I got a good look at a pair that flew in with no "I'll sit over here and check out the scene before sitting at the bar." About the size of a grackle but so beautiful. Mainly black breast and black head had some brown stripes. Black wings lined and dotted with copper/gold and thin white stripes. Wings' pattern similar to what I see in my book as female Northern Harrier. Hope they weren't just breezing through.
