Tony Leukering Posted August 23, 2020 Share Posted August 23, 2020 Adult females are brighter and more distinctly yellow below, while immatures are duller. Once immature males begin replacing their mask feathers in the preformative molt, they can be identified as such. Until then, they're no different from immature females, making it virtually impossible to confidently ID an immature female -- though I'd guess that the last-linked photo is of an immature female, considering how dull it is so late in the fall.
