colorado carol
Recently visited Southern Colorado. Suddenly heard a very Loud Buzzing sound, looked up & saw a fast flying yellow bird? soaring in the sky. Never went by the hummingbird feeders - just kind of soaring & buzzing - very LOUD - what did I see??? It was mid-afternoon..... This is driving me crazy - I want to know what I saw....Thank You! HamRHead
Was it all yellow? If not, how about a Yellow-headed Blackbird?
HamRHead
Another wild guess would be Peregrine Falcon.
Totah Sam
Are you sure it was yellow? Could it have orange? Rufous Hummingbirds should be down here by now

I think we're out of ideas, but I hope you can figure out what bird you saw. Do you know how to look up calls for the suggested birds? I am away from my PC but would be glad to look for some links when I get a chance.
HamRHead
Xeno-Canto is a good site for searching bird calls: https://www.xeno-canto.org/ Here are some specific links: Yellow-headed Blackbird: https://www.xeno-canto.org/species/Xanthocephalus-xanthocephalus Rufus Hummingbird: https://www.xeno-canto.org/species/Selasphorus-rufus For both of these birds you will see several pages of calls and songs. TuftedTitrat
How yellow was it? If you were in southeastern Colorado, pine siskins are always making buzzing noises, but they aren't completely yellow. Here's a sound clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R90i-rg5_8w Edited September 5, 2018 by TuftedTitrat

Thank You all for your thoughts. Unfortunately, none of those sounded like what I heard & saw. I'm starting to think maybe it wasn't a bird at all. Maybe a Large Carpenter Bee - as those are large & they buzz Loudly. It was as loud as a cicada - but not that. Wish I would have taken a picture, but it was so fast, probably wouldn't have gotten one anyway.
