Western Lexington County, central SC.  06 Sep 20.

In the field, I originally pegged this sucker as an Eastern Phoebe.  Looking at the photos, I see an orange / yellow lower mandible, more of peak toward the back of the head than I expected, and a fainter, wider vest that I usually see on EAPH.  The bird was at the top of a tree between 35 and 50 feet high, doing the typical launch-catch-return sequence.

 Eastern Wood-Pewee?  Thanks.

Agreed. Nice shot BTW. Also  do you know if it's possible to chase the Black-throated Gray Warbler near Charlotte?

Sorry, I'm near Columbia.  Charlotte is 90 miles to the north.

Although I'm sure chasing it is POSSIBLE.  Spotting it may be a different matter.  That's why I gave up chasing after my one and (so far) only attempt to chase a species - too stressful.

Ah, but doesn't the Carolina Bird Club cover North and South?

It was seen a few minutes ago. I’m in the NC group me.
