It was mostly a joke…every time I see one I think it’s something else! But, they’re non native and are absolutely everywhere at the migrant traps here. dragon49
Good number of species for the limited distance covered. My first time seeing a Snail Kite anywhere on the refuge. It is always exciting to see our National Bird. It was a hotspot lifer for me, as well as only my second sighting of a BAEA anywhere on the Refuge: https://ebird.org/checklist/S139438042 Normal stuff for this place at this time of day: https://ebird.org/checklist/S139446473

Quiscalus quiscula
https://ebird.org/checklist/S139599998 A very cool place and great for learning warbler songs, even though the species count is not very high.

dragon49
This place has more to offer, but I was there in the middle of a hot day. Given the circumstances, I saw a good number of species. I had a great experience learning a Northern Mockingbird alarm call. I didn't report the NOMO until I actually saw the bird, as I thought a squirrel alarm call was faking out Merlin. I was able to capture a lot of audio to share. I'm still working out issues with my microphone setup, so the longer clips suffer from some peaking and wind noise, but the 27-second one is mostly clean. See the species notes for the full story: https://ebird.org/checklist/S139643198
Quiscalus quiscula
https://ebird.org/checklist/S139736324 A pleasant morning stroll along the river yielded a good variety of species. I finally saw a Black-billed Cuckoo, which I'd only heard before. The usually secretive Great Crested Flycatcher also came out.

Birds are cool
Insane counts! I was only one bird away from a high count on Swainson's Warbler and I probably undercounted! 11 species of warblers! https://ebird.org/checklist/S140118981 Â
Aidan B
Amazing day in the Sierra Nevadas. Lots of birds, especially woodpeckers. I don't know of many places in the mountains I've had thirty-one woodpeckers of seven species on one list before. Got good looks at most everything on the checklist as well, which doesn't always happen. Having good looks at Mountain Quail was super fun as well! https://ebird.org/checklist/S140263438
Birds are cool
Insane amount of species for the hotspot, and I missed YBCU and EWPE. My father and I ran a half-marathon in Beaverdam WMA, and then went birding for a half hour. It was my first half, and his first half in almost a decade! https://ebird.org/checklist/S140332932 The BWTE was pretty cool!
dragon49
I took an Audubon Everglades field trip this morning. I was hoping for a lifer but not expecting any since it was June. Nice number of species for the time of year.  I would have normally only shared a few photos with the batch that came out, but the AE leader likes illustrated checklists, so I uploaded more. https://ebird.org/checklist/S140357799 Edited 6 hours ago by dragon49
