dragon49
Two checklists today: https://ebird.org/checklist/S145706758 - Good number of species for the time of day and distance travelled. https://ebird.org/checklist/S145703103 - Decent checklist for the time of day and ground covered.
dragon49
I hadn't taken a proper neighborhood survey in a while. A tad disappointed with the species count, but otherwise what one would expect here this time of year: https://ebird.org/checklist/S145744709

Snake Fingers
Went back to Lake Herman SP with my mom! We had a nice walk around the lake(forgot our water bottles, not nice), good weather and no bugs! https://ebird.org/checklist/S145822111
IKLland
My lens is broken, I’m getting a new one soon. For now I have to take digis. My friend will get his photos up when he gets a chance. Nice morning. https://ebird.org/checklist/S145921768 2
dragon49
Some warblers showed up early here, but I haven't been able to find them. I made a quick stop looking for a Prothonotary Warbler that wasn't there: https://ebird.org/checklist/S145934782 Decent checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S145938519 Great checklist! I got the Western Sandpiper lifer I was after: https://ebird.org/checklist/S145948647

IKLland
Ended up going back for another quick after sunset walk at the marsh after the annual Audubon bbq there. Not the better list than this morning’s list, but the list with the better birds. https://ebird.org/checklist/S145960758
Birds are cool
I have shared this list before, but just uploaded all of my photos, so I would appreciate if you would take a look! This was when @Quiscalus quiscula and I went birding. https://ebird.org/checklist/S144615912?view=photos
dragon49
Decent Checklist considering I was there in the middle of a 95° F Day. I'm the first person to have found a Yellow-billed Cuckoo at the hotspot since last October: https://ebird.org/checklist/S146024888 Edited July 30 by dragon49
dragon49
Another decent parking lot checklist. I did miss the Monk Parakeets though: https://ebird.org/checklist/S146105152

This will provide even more valuable data, as nobody really birds parking lots.

My community is actually a hotspot, but I'm tired of walking around there, so I've been taking dedicated birding trips (no planned shopping) to this parking lot. I'll go to a different parking lot later in the week. Many of our county's parking lots are good spots for birding. Back in March, I drove an hour to a parking lot to get my Common Myna lifer, as it's the only reliable place in the county to find those birds. That parking lot does not have a water retention pond, but many of the local strip mall ones have one or more, which brings up more possibilities for birds. All the parking lots here are awful for birds. Good for you birding random spots, collecting valuable data. We should all do more of that type of birding.

dragon49
I took @IKLlands advice and birded a different parking lot today. Fewer species than my normal parking lot, and overall, a different avian character. This place does have a canal in the back, as well as a number of fruiting trees, so it has more potential, and I'll be back. https://ebird.org/checklist/S146262971 Edited August 2 by dragon49
dragon49
I went back to my main parking lot and had a great checklist. I set a species record for the personal location: https://ebird.org/checklist/S146343484

dragon49
My main parking lot was slower than yesterday, but nonetheless good for a parking lot. I'll have more variety over the weekend, and next week, will go to at least one different parking lot: https://ebird.org/checklist/S146416484
dragon49
Any checklist with a lifer (Wilson's Phalarope) is a great checklist! Decent number of species for the short distance travelled. I'd normally upload some Black-necked Stilt audio, but today, there was far too much noise from a water pump to get any good recordings: https://ebird.org/checklist/S146536783
