Yesterday sure was a better day on the OP then today. I was out there today until about eleven and the only good bird I had was the WWDO.
dragon49
I ran down to the refuge after work to meet some birder friends to chase a rare Kentucky warbler that had been spotted this morning. We were unable to find it and left as the day's storm started: https://ebird.org/checklist/S150227286 I stuck around for a while as I needed to find something I had dropped. I found it, and then ran into a friend who showed up to chase the KEWA. By that time the downpour had subsided, and we went birding in a light drizzle. My friend found the bird, but I did not: https://ebird.org/checklist/S150233248 A rare day without any media, but I had nothing I felt like sharing. Kevin
Considering this isn't down south or close to the coast, this is a pretty good checklist. https://ebird.org/checklist/S150288211
dragon49
Still chasing the Kentucky Warbler but haven't found it yet. Decent checklist, considering the rain and the limited area covered: https://ebird.org/checklist/S150296861
dragon49
I ran down to the boardwalk, as folks had incredible checklists there this morning, reporting three potential lifers, a Canada Warbler, a Swainson's Thrush, and a Veery. I was unable to find any of those birds, but nonetheless, had a good checklist on the boardwalk and surrounding area: https://ebird.org/checklist/S150370787 Edited Thursday at 02:56 AM by dragon49
dragon49
Same character as yesterday. I little disappointed at not haven gotten any lifers, but this isn't the best time to be walking around the refuge. https://ebird.org/checklist/S150431711
dragon49
Great checklist, as I got the Chestnut-sided Warbler lifer I was after. I also got a FOY Tennessee Warbler. Good number of species for the Boardwalk as well: https://ebird.org/checklist/S150476282 I started a separate checklist for the other areas of the refuge I covered. An OK number of species for the distance travelled, but the real treat was all of the Bobolinks. I saw one report from May of five individuals at the refuge, and another report from last year had an observation of one individual, so this was tremendous! https://ebird.org/checklist/S150491662
IKLland
A quiet but fun evening at the marsh. One of my favorite places to bird! https://ebird.org/checklist/S150525204
Quiscalus quiscula
Went out at sunrise to check for migrants. Ended up with more species than expected and several first of season and year, as well as plenty of mosquito bites. https://ebird.org/checklist/S150633216

dragon49
I took a day off from chasing lifers and went to visit the local American Crows. Not too much else to say about this checklist. It was otherwise slow, but this is normal for the spot. https://ebird.org/checklist/S150689657
Zoroark Posted yesterday at 03:42 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:42 AM (edited) We went up to St. George, Utah, for the weekend, and I got a few firsts of the year, and a lifer Canyon Wren! It's not like they're particularly rare, just that the best places to see them are out of the way and generally very popular, so I tend to avoid them. No photo, but I did record some audio. https://ebird.org/tripreport/159290 Edited yesterday at 03:43 AM by Zoroark
MichaelLong
Saturday: https://ebird.org/tripreport/159894 My mom had a conference in Alviso that I was able to tag along, there I saw many Vaux's Swifts, the most I've seen ever although nothing like the numbers seen earlier this month in Marin. Also had my county bird Virginia's Rail calling in the marsh, heard some Marsh Wrens singing in the rushes, got my state bird Common Gallinule, had a super photogenic Least Sandpiper bathing by the Boat Ramp, and witnessed a California Gull unsuccessfully trying to harass a Forster's Tern into dropping its food. Unfortunately, there were also tons of other people enjoying the marsh and the rails were not willing to go out into the open in such a noisy environment. Sunday: https://ebird.org/checklist/S150644777 Nothing rare but still a very nice trip, I arrived just before sunrise and was able to watch the sun rising over the lights of Redwood City and Bair Island. The best bird of the trip was a Yellow Warbler that flew in from the Bay and landed in a eucalyptus tree. I also had incredible views of a small family of Bluebirds and a large congregation of egrets and white pelicans were gathered in the cattail-lined Phelps Slough, feeding aggressively on what I believe to be mosquitofish. (I'm not aware of any other fish species inhabiting the pond)
dragon49
A decent morning on the boardwalk. I was hoping for more though: https://ebird.org/checklist/S150726405 Had a good rest of the day on the refuge: https://ebird.org/checklist/S150744465
dragon49
From Saturday: Pretty slow for a tour, but it's not the guide's fault. I did, however, get my Yellow-throated Vireo lifer. On Saturday in the lifers thread, I posted pics of the species from the subsequent checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S150724331 I spent the rest of the day birding with friends: The next checklist was uneventful: https://ebird.org/checklist/S150562905 However, I then got my Swainson's Thrush and Veery lifers here: https://ebird.org/checklist/S150574963
