Your checklist of the day!

Probably the best bird I have ever found.  Bucket List bird - Self-found, Michigan Review Species, and in my home county.  This potentially great shorebird spot had normal SOSA, WISN and KILL there, and that was disappointingly it.  I drove down further to see the west side of the pond and freaked out when I saw this bird in my binoculars.

This was from this morning and it was absolutely crazy (to me). This is the highest amount I’ve ever gotten on a checklist for this area and my second highest species count ever. Also added 2 new species so the hotspot is now at 149! One more to go...

Might have been possible to crack 60 if the stars had aligned as I was missing a few normal species, but still a very good day regardless.

That’s great. Getting a spot to 150 in the mountains is difficult. I bet you’ll hit it in the next week. Who knows, maybe you could get it close to 175 with a good migration.

My biggest fear is that someone else will come and add the 150th species before I do! Only here for one more full day and a morning so hoping I can find something. Really trying for Sandhill cranes but none have flown over yet.
I can’t quite remember, but I think my absolute max that is possible for this area/habitat is just below 200. I’m pretty sure I’ll get above 150 in May and June, but I know it will slow right down after that.

Is Pac-slope a new bird for you? You'll get them everywhere once you learn what they sound like.

Yes. I just saw it in a tree. I’ll study the calls. Is it distinctive?
